See, this was when our mighty Fraser Valley College came to life, setting on a thrilling adventure to empower young minds with knowledge. All thanks to Dr. Larry Blake, our founding dean, having the guts to turn the stone of education in this pristine valley. Brave enough to take on the task, wasn't he?
Now, let's zoom to 1983, where some big wigs made a blinding decision, giving the college a university college status. Didn't see that coming, did you? And there was our gem, standing tall and proud as the University College of the Fraser Valley. We sure celebrated, but did you know we had barely begun on our rollercoaster ride of a journey?
In 1991, who could forget, tongues were wagging everywhere about some fellow named Mark Evered? Made a heck of a mark, that man, being appointed as the second president of the college. The brainier ones whispered that big things were coming, and boy, were they right! The energy in the air was electric, you'd swear you could almost catch a spark flying around!
Just when you thought things couldn't get any better, 2008 happened. Yeah, you remember the year! It was the year that champagne bottles popped open, and toasts were raised left, right, and centre. Why, you ask? Well, our beloved University College of the Fraser Valley transformed into the University of the Fraser Valley! Threw quite a party, we did!
As incredible as it seems, the water still flowed downstream, and the years brought even more blessings. Fast forward to 2018: the grand old institution doubled the joy as it celebrated 40 successful years and 10 years since earning the University status.
