In one fine year of 1970, a couple of stargazing 'Edupreneurs' in Canada jotted down their ambitious masterplan for a world-class institution. And voila! The Cariboo College was born. It was like the proud first flutter of a baby sparrow's wings, yearning for a sweep in the intellect skies.
Covering time like a squirrel up a tree, barely after a decade in 1980, our college trimmed up its educational feathers and soared up as the University College of the Cariboo. Talk about growing up fast, eh?
Now, our founding folks had an itch for meaningful names, they did. So, they looked to the father of Canadian Confederation, Mr. David Thompson. They admired his spirit, his compulsion to explore nooks and crannies, much like what they were aiming to ignite in their students. And bam! In 2005, the University College of the Cariboo gets a brand-new name tag - Thompson Rivers University (TRU).
Nope, we didn't stop there; we were just getting started. Enter 2010, and TRU grabs a global cap. We became an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, ready to weave silk threads of knowledge across the world. Building bridges and breaking walls, turning Thompson Rivers University into an intellectual mecca for students worldwide.
