Now, folks, let me tell ya', back in the day, original thinking hit home, particularly in the sphere of education. They realised that the world was changing really quick and it needed skilled professionals, not just scholars proclaiming theories.
Then out came the 'Eureka!' moment, the roots of BCIT got firmly planted by Dr. J.R. (JJ) Johannesen and his quick-minded team of visionaries. These are the smart alec who came up with the idea of creating an educational institute that wasn't afraid to push boundaries.
The doors of BCIT first swung open for curious minds in 1964. Talk about being a runner outta the blocks! There we had BCIT, racing with five clear-as-crystal areas of study during their initial starting up - Building Technology, Chemical and Metallurgical Technology, Civil and Structural Technology, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology.
