Our tale begins back in 2001 when things were a bit different. The British and Irish Modern Music Institute, or simply known BIMM as we affectionately call it, was just a twinkle in Kevin Nixon's eyes. Yep, good ol' Kev, a renowned music mogul himself, alongside his equally music-crazed colleagues Sarah Clayman and Bruce Dickinson, envisaged a music institution unlike any other. "Our aim", they sputtered, "is to nurture the next big things in music on an international stage."
By 2004, "BIMM" was more than just a catchy name. The trio had laid down the first BIMM bricks smack in the heart of Brighton, a city famed oh-so musically, itself. Through its doors, walked approximately 100 students, hearts beating in rhythm with the pulsating tunes swirling in their minds.
But Kev, Sarah, and Bruce, weren’t ready to sit back and celebrate just yet! They saw the bigger picture, a picture sketched out in musical notes and guitar riffs! In 2008, with ears still ringing from Brighton's successes, they threw another BIMM bash, this time in brimming Bristol. Crikey, another hit, wouldn't you believe it!
It must have been something in the water. Years rolled by, and the BIMM train chugged along, adding carriages with every chug! 2010 saw the birth of BIMM's Dublin branch, swiftly followed by Manchester in 2013, Birmingham in 2017, and London in 2018. No time to twiddle thumbs, eh?
But wait, the story ain't over yet. Further afield, across the chilly Atlantic, our trio of musical wizards found their gaze drawn to the snowy peaks of Berlin, Germany, in 2015. "Germany needs a touch of BIMM," they thought, and wham, BIMM Berlin was born.
You might gasp, "Hold on a tic, what's so terribly unique about BIMM?" Well, my dear reader, other than birthing pop and rock acts as big as The Kooks and George Ezra (you might've heard of them), BIMM dares to teach the business of music too! The operations ain't all jamming sessions and headbanging, mind you. There’s a lot that goes into making melodies that make listeners swoon.
So, hey there, Indian folks, don't you yearn for a tantalizing musical adventure of your own? Feel that air guitar begging for the real deal? Aspire to sway to your own tunes under the spotlight?
