Back in 1855, someone had a bright idea to educate folks in a more structured manner, just like a bubbling pot of delicious curry, things began simmering. That's right, we're talking about the birth of the University of Exeter. Some wise fellows decided to establish the Exeter School of Art, marking the university's first step.
You see, back then, education wasn't a piece of gulab jamun, schooling was as rare as a Rajnikanth movie without a fight scene! So, when the Exeter School of Science was born in 1868, it stirred up quite the commotion, but in a good way, of course. Seems like folks at Exeter had a knack for making learning exciting, pretty much like a Bollywood plot twist!
Fast-forward to 1922, the University College of the South West of England came on the scene. Elegant title, don't you think? Something you'd want to proudly engrave on a name plate. Sir Hetherington's plan floated around like a thali without naan, until a royal charter in 1955 declared the University College to be none other than the University of Exeter.
