Once upon a time, in 2001 to be exact, two farsighted music enthusiasts named Damian Keyes and Kevin Nixon rolled up their sleeves in Brighton, England. They were fueled by a clear vision - to set up a music institution that catered to the evolving needs of the music industry. Voila! The British and Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM) started strumming its first chords. And hey, talk about starting on a high note, BIMM's first college, the Brighton campus was a smashing hit!
Our story gathers pace in 2004, as the London campus waltzed onto the scene. A rocking start you might say, especially considering the fact that it quickly became one of the coolest places to study modern music in the heart of UK's vibrant capital city.
Hot on the heels of London's success, BIMM opened another door to the music aspirants in Bristol in 2008. Decked out with state-of-the-art facilities, this campus created a hub for musicians, creating ripples far and wide.
Now, let's march forward to 2010, and watch how BIMM insanely rocked Ireland! Yes, folks, the first college outside of the UK was opened in funky Dublin, bringing its unique teaching style and world-class education on the Irish shores. And, all of sure knew, this was just the beginning!
No one thought they could drum up something bigger, but in 2011, BIMM bounced over to Manchester, securing a fitful spot for itself in the city rich with legendary music heritage. Manchester campus cemented BIMM’s status as the champion of modern music education.
Things heated up in 2012, as BIMM added another feather to its cap by launching Tech Music School London (now known as BIMM Institute London). This new addition was a quantum leap, providing a platform focusing on professional skills, applied industry knowledge, and artistic innovation.
