Back in 2003, a spark caught fire and boy, let me tell you, it lit up the world of filmmaking like you wouldn't believe! Jonny Persey, Thomas Hoegh, and Luke Montagu, three amigos with a passion for the silver screen, they went on and founded the Met Film School; and it doesn't end there, as the school was set foot in none other than the historic Ealing Studios, London. That's like opening a cricket coaching centre right inside Lord's stadium; imagine the buzz!
Now, Met Film School wasn't just another one of London's charmed higher educational institutions, no sir! They threw their hat in the ring and made their mark by offering hands-on, practical film-making courses. Flipping the conventional educational model on its head, they gave the students a taste of the real deal, a sneak peek into filmmaking's raw charisma, if you will. Their idea was 'the best way to learn is to do', and bless my heart, they were spot on!
Believe me when I say 'they didn't stop'. From 2005, they started expanding their curriculum, adding BA and MA courses in Filmmaking, paving the path for budding Spielberg’s and Scorsese’s from across the ocean. The cherry on top, they even established partnerships with BBC, Universal Pictures, and the judwaa (twin) of Hollywood - Bollywood. Whoa, talk about a superstar connection!
In 2007, they expanded their horizon and took the school to a global plateau, opening new campuses in Berlin. Initiating a two-city module for their courses, they gave their students a chance to learn filmmaking in not just one, but two leading film capitals of the world. However, the founders realised that while they were shaping the future Spielbergs and Scorseses, the digital revolution was so upon them.
