Once upon a time, and that's not too long ago, in the year 2001, an energetic soul named Damian Keyes had an enlightening thought. He said, "Let's make music education a rockstar, something to shout off the rooftops about!" He envisioned an institute in the heart of Britain that would cater to the rhythm of the youthful hearts. And thus, the British and Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM), was born.
Now, our buddy Damian didn't just start this on a whimsical idea, no siree! He brought in a mate Sarah Clayman, an experienced manager from the music industry itself. They decided to paint the town red and lay down the first bricks of BIMM in Brighton, a buzzing city loved by musicians.
Damian and Sarah thought, "What's better than one?" So, "Two!" they shouted, and in 2005, BIMM dug its roots in another musical heartland, Bristol. Thousands of miles away in India, the dhol and tabla players perked up their ears as the news of modern music education echoed.
Our heroes weren't done yet, they twiddled their thumbs and in 2008 spread BIMM's wings to Dublin. A city rich with Irish folklore, it was the perfect stage for young talent. Students jive down the lane, and parents excitedly telling relatives, "My child is studying at BIMM, you know?"
Comes 2010 and the dynamic duo made level-headed Leo Nicholas, one of the finest brains in the business, the CEO. "Music to my ears!" said Leo, strapping on the responsibility with glee.
BIMM was flourishing and snatched the spotlight even from British's beloved tea! Then in 2012, BIMM waltzed into Manchester. A city, my dear reader, that placed Oasis, The Smiths, and other groovy bands on the world stage. Could it get any cooler?
Then Damian thought, "Why not make this a grand tour?" So, next stop - in 2012, BIMM invaded London, another city blooming with melodies. Our Indian parents were gobsmacked, "BIMM in London too? Now it's a royal affair!"
BIMM decided to jazz things up and acquired Tech Music Schools London in 2012, now known as BIMM London. The students were all cheers, "Extra subjects, more learnings, we're on cloud nine!"
BIMM fancied a holiday in northern Germany and opened another group in 2015 in Berlin. Wouldn't you know, more folks in lederhosen tapping their feet to modern beats!
And finally, of course, 2016 saw BIMM open its doors in Birmingham. Phew! From one part of Britain to another, zigzagging across Europe, BIMM is now a name making noise all around, even in India - people pass on the tale, "Ever heard of BIMM? It’s the real McCoy!"
So there you go, that's the story of BIMM, a pulsating journey of music, dreams, and lots of backstage hard work. Quite a melodious journey, don't you think?
