So, they donned a new name - Newcastle Polytechnic. An upgrade, if you will. This is where the roots of Northumbria University lie, emerging out of a historic Engineer School and a trainee Teacher College.
Fast forward a bit to the mid-70's and what do we have? A flock of nearly 8,000 eager students! The place was buzzing, and why wouldn't it? With more than ten departments offering a diverse range of courses - it was indeed, the "talk of the town". Their recipe for success was clear as day - a platter full of incredible academic programs garnished with a sprinkle of state-of-the-art facilities.
In the 80s, something exciting happened. Cozy Newcastle Polytechnic decided to add an extra pinch of flavor to their already-enticing recipe.
