Slap bang middle of 1865, did you know, good ol' John Henry Brookes, an English craftsman, set his heart on running a private Art School in Oxford? Weaving the story of the one and only Oxford Brookes University, he started by teaching locals to sketch apples and vases. Intriguing, isn't it?
Now, things got a spicy twist in '59, you know 1891. John wouldn’t settle for any Tom, Dick or Harry, so he upgraded his petite art school to the Oxford City Technical School, introducing technical and scientific studies.. Before you know it, in 1896, a liberal philanthropist, there's a mouthful, Thomas Allan, helps our man John to create another division for domestic sciences. Ooh fancy, thinks I!
