This included the beautiful stretch where the St Albans Campus of Oaklands College stands proudly today, gracing it with a Mansion House bearing centuries of tradition. This campus would go on to become an anchor for local and overseas students, thanks to the vision of one man, John Hunter Smith.
John Hunter Smith, the driving force behind the establishment, opened the gates of this institution in 1921. His role as the founding principal reshaped the destiny of countless lives that entered its portals. The institute earned its prestige as the Hertfordshire County Council Agricultural Institute, committed to offering full and part-time courses to homegrown and global scholars.
Fast forward to February 1926, the Mansion House got battle-scarred due to an unfortunate fire incident. The charming gabled roof of the Mansion House had seen better days and was replaced by a modern flat roof that stands the test of time to this day.
