And thus, Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) was born, with the humble aspiration to enrich the lives of the unschooled folk of southern Appalachia.
Fast forward a few moons, LMU got its legal footing on February 12, 1897. No ordinary day, no sir! It was President Abraham Lincoln's birthday which explains the Jesus-cow-expensive Lincoln statue that Howard put up. Can't have a university named after Lincoln without some Lincoln in it, right?
