Our time machine drops us in the late 1940s when two committed institutions decide to merge, harnessing each other's strengths for a larger, shared vision.
We soon find ourselves in 1949, and the Minneapolis-based school has boldly taken a leap of faith, shifting its base a thousand miles to the vibrant city of Chicago. By then, with their forces unified, the institutions make their new identity known to the world - Trinity Seminary and Bible College.
As we continue on this incredible journey, the year 1961 ushers a new dawn. The school walks proud and tall into their new campus in Bannockburn, Illinois (with a Deerfield, Illinois postal address). With new beginnings came a new title, a year later, they rechristened themselves as the Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS), and Trinity College. From a modest enrollment of 51 in 1961, the school flourished to include a thriving student body of 1,400 by 1990.
In 1995, another milestone moment arrived at doorsteps of Trinity. TEDS fused with Trinity College in Deerfield, Illinois, and another Trinity College in the southern sun-soaked landscape of Miami, (well-known as Miami Christian College before). This union was a result of a progressive merger of the two establishments in 1989. Miami Christian College decided to step into the new era using its original name until 1993.
Five years later, the Trinity family expanded yet again, embracing Trinity Law School in Santa Ana, California. This moment also marked the founding of the Trinity Graduate School. Together, they joined the ranks of Trinity International University in 1997.
In 2014, the reins of Trinity passed into the competent hands of David S. Dockery as the 15th president. His election was unanimous, with celebrations marking his inauguration in October that year. President Dockery spearheaded a comprehensive strategic plan for the road ahead - Heritage & Hope: Trinity 2023. This plan envisioned growth and an exciting journey into the future.
To continue this legacy, in June 2019, Nicholas Perrin was unanimously elected as the 16th president.
