Once upon a time, in 1869 to be exact, smack dab in the middle of southern Illinois, two ingenious gents, Daniel Harmon Brush and John Asgill Conner, stirred up quite a storm. Guess what they did? They established a simple teacher’s college, the very institution that we now recognize as the Southern Illinois University! Back then, it was just a humble place for learning, with a tinier student crowd than a traditional Indian wedding. It started its journey as the Southern Illinois Normal University with the primary goal to bring forth educators with a caliber second to none!
Now, fast-forward to 1947, think of a hero spicing up the plot in a Bollywood flick! That's what Dr. Delyte Wesley Morris did. This nifty visionary took over the reins and decided it wasn’t time for the University to play small.
