Now let us chew the fat - 33 may seem like a small number today, but back then it was an impressive start. The goal was simple - to train educators and churn out the kind of knowledge that would ignite the minds of the young Arizona populace and beyond.
The name of the institution was a mouthful - The Territorial Normal School at Tempe. Graced with its first building in 1898, Old Main, it remains the heart and soul of ASU’s illustrious history—a touching tribute to the institution’s beginnings.
