The tale we’re about to weave starts in a groovy year, that's 1885 my friends when a blazing, burning passion ignited the inception of the University of St. Thomas. Yeah, imagine that! It wasn't a hot shot CEO or a millionaire who shot the start gun, but a bunch of faith-filled bishops led by John Ireland. It's Ireland who we have to tip our hat to, as it was his dream that bore fruit. He wanted a school that was welcoming to all, not just those with pockets full of cash.
Fast forward to 1894 when everything got, you know, official. That's when St. Thomas was given the status of a, wait for it, college! Yipee! Did you know that back in the day, only men were admitted? Yeah, but don't turn up your nose, we are talking about times where men still believed in wearing baggy trousers and moustaches were all the rage.
