Back in the day, circa 1851, a handful of German-speaking nuns, or the Sisters of St. Francis to be precise, flew halfway across the world and landed smack dab in the middle of Oldenburg, Indiana, USA. Now, you may ask, "What on earth were they doing there?" That's a darn good question! These devout ladies, armed with a truckload of courage and a pinch of madness chucked everything familiar in the European heartland and hopped onto this New World adventure. And boy, they totally rocked it!
Mind you, these sisters didn't land in the USA to sit around, oh no sir! They had a bold dream, a vision grander than the most outrageous Bollywood blockbuster. Their mission? To create an educational center, specifically for women. Honestly, talk about ladies who literally led from the front! It’s pretty insane - in the good way, of course.
Fast forward a few years to 1936, and the sisters had accomplished their audacious dream. By then, they were running not one, not two, but several schools throughout Indiana.
