His offer? A whopping eight acres of prime real estate, positioned southeast of downtown Indianapolis, as a perfect location for a future college campus. The twist was, he needed their assistance to sell 446 patches of surrounding land. Following a successful negotiation, the birth of Indiana Central University was etched into history in 1902.
However, it wasn't until September 26, 1905, that this young institution welcomed its first students and started to breathe academic life. And what marked this day even more special was the grand opening of the first university building, the distinguished Good Hall.
