Davenport University, well, this grand plot of learning kicked things off in its very infancy way back in 1866. Picture the scene, the good folk of Grand Rapids, Michigan, were setting into motion something that'd turn out to be a bit of a humdinger, folks! A man of brilliance, Conrad G. Swensburg, inked his name into the annals of history, establishing this great learning neighborhood!
Into the 1880s, stepping onto the stage came one Mr. Michael E. Davenport. A visionary lad, he took over captaincy of the university ship, and thus, the humble 'Grand Rapids Business College' got transformed, then onwards bearing the moniker of its new captain – now tell me, does Davenport University have a ring to it, or does it have a ring to it?
A bit of a fun fact folks, throughout the first half of the 20th century, Davenport University was a bit of a traveling circus! From Kalamazoo to Traverse City, this knowledge caravan marched on, dishing out education left, right, and center. We're talking a whopping 18 campuses, all across Michigan, and even one meandering as far as Indiana!
Growth came knocking on the door again in 1959, well, you know how it is, Davenport University? Yeah, more like Davenport "Expandchevity".
