The tale of Columbia College is one that's brimming with vibrancy and energy, much like a Bollywood blockbuster! As things go, in 1754, New York City was swept by a wave of education renaissance. Imagine this: it's like the whole city got hold of the Bournvita Brain Booster. Suddenly, the concept of a higher learning institution dawned upon a toothy grin, Dr. Samuel Johnson. And so, Columbia College stomped into the playground of knowledge, being the fifth one to do so in America, dressed up all fancy in its royal charter by George II of Great Britain. So basically, Columbia College was 'royally' established before it became hip!
The first students, eight in total, embarked on their journey in a small schoolhouse near Trinity Church. It was not the best campus, but hey, Sachin didn't start from a 5-star cricket ground, right?
