Picture this, way back in 1947, a bunch of big-brain folks had an ingenious idea – to open a cool little place for nifty technical training programs in America. That, my dear friends, was the glorious start of the Oregon Tech, and we've been working our socks off in the world of education since then!
Down the line, in 1964, we decided to up the ante and moved the whole shebang to Klamath Falls (say that ten times fast!), and not just anywhere, but a spot with a valley view to knock your socks off! So, students didn't just sharpen their brains, but also feasted their eyes on some top-notch natural beauty. The geography lesson was a cherry on top!
In the hustle and bustle of '77, with the rising sun bringing us much joy and blessings, our family expanded as we added Wilsonville to our list of campuses. This major move brought us closer to Delhi to New York, well for Indians, that's like going from Kerala to Delhi, quite a leap, but totally worth it!
Age is just a number they say, and we believe them 'cause in 1981, at the tender age of 34, don't you know, we became a fully accredited independent public polytechnic university. A bit of a mouthful, but what it means is we were making waves in the big pond of education.
The new millennium was a turning point for us. As the world was partying like it's 1999, we were making big moves. In 2005, our online education wing spread its wings and took flight. We brought the world's knowledge home, and "Oregon Tech Online" turned into a bit of a superstar, making education accessible no matter where you hang your hat.
In 2012, dear friends, we added 'health sciences' to our list of expertise. With this, we aimed to create a 'mithai' of education blending the right amount of sweetness from various fields. Much like 'ras malai', a popular Indian dessert with the right amount of sweetness, we were now honing minds in the best possible myriad of ways.
Our journey wasn't a bed of roses, certainly not! Remember the infamous Y2k scare? We faced it head-on as the bug bit the world hard in 2016. Our systems went for a toss, and it seemed like we were juggling greased watermelons. But we bounced back strong, learning and growing from the inevitable woes of tech.
In 2018, we celebrated our 70th birthday, a septuagenarian in spirit but full of bubbling energy and innovation of a teenager. Cakes, candles, and cheers rang across our institute as we looked back over our shoulder at the amazing rollercoaster ride that this journey has been.
By 2021, we were a massive family of over 5,400 students, studying in more than 50 programs, making the world a better place, one graduate at a time. With over seven decades of experience, we've seen, done, and conquered it all in the realm of Higher Education.
