FIU initially was just an abandoned airfield, which kind of echoes the famous dialogue from the Bollywood flick "3 Idiots" – “Life is a race, run fast, or get trampled". Sports folks amongst us would surely find it cool! With a whopping 5,667 students, the university humbly opened its gates in 1972.
