Flashback to 1896, when the concept of higher education was transforming rapidly, a place for women's education known as the Alabama Girls' Industrial School (AGIS) was founded. It was the October of that year when the doors to this progressive institution first opened. A lady named Annie Kennedy was the first to become a part of the faculty.
