Hatfield, for his persistent commitment to medical research and support to the hospital was felicitously honoured in 1998, with the dedication of the Mark O. Hatfield Clinical Research Center.
By 2001, an expansion was in the offing. The Oregon Graduate Institute volunteered to become a part of OHSU. This step welcomed a fresh name of OGI School of Science and Engineering under OHSU.
