World, meet South University – not just a place, it's an experience! Our journey began in 1899 when savvy educator Dr. John Southern laid our cornerstone. With his spectacle-covered nose deep in books, Southern dreamed big and boy-o-boy, did he deliver.
Zooming past the dinosaurs, well, not literally, into the Roaring 20s, South University had a whopping 500 students! Think about it. 500 young minds all burning the midnight oil, heads full of thoughts, hearts full of dreams. Between the ivy-covered walls of our classic campus, ideas sparked, ricocheted and exploded. Boom! We were suddenly on the academic map!
Now, if you can imagine the hippie 60s, South University was in the thick of it. The winds of change blew through campus, bringing with them new schools of thought and tie-dye shirts. Our friend, the scholarly Dr. Bennett Armstrong, took the helm as head honcho. He championed experiential learning; it was less "lectures and textbooks," more "let's get up and do something!"
