Born and bred in 1906, Pace University rolled up its sleeves and took entry in the realm of education with vim and vigor. This all started when Homer St. Clair Pace along with his brother Charles Ashford Pace, who were top-drawer accountants at the time, made up their minds to divert their trajectory towards education. Packed to the gills with a vision, they yanked up their socks, and lo and behold, Pace University was born in a rented building located in the Financial District of Manhattan. They paid a notable $600 for a full year's rent. Little did they know that their ambition, which seemed like a pie in the sky at that point, was soon to rise and shine!
Pace University, or as I like to call it the 'University of Pace and Grace', acted as a trailblazer in the sphere of business education. I mean shovel in the dough type stuff, alright. The brothers launched the Pace Institute of Accounting in 1907, aiming to strike while the iron is hot and address the rising demand for skillful accountants. The institute offered a potpourri of accounting courses. You can say the brothers threw everything but the kitchen sink at it!
Fast forward to the 1940s and voila, Pace University had grown like a beanstalk! It now had two campuses (one in Brooklyn and the other in Pleasantville), offering a vast array of subjects. In a straight shot, the University was now a comprehensive 'hoity-toity' educational institution. It even started offering doctoral programs in 1960, ain't no flies on them.
In the '70s, Pace, with its fire in the belly, got a bee in its bonnet to expand horizontally. In 1975, the University opened a new campus in White Plains, New York, all ready to kick the dust up. But wait, the university didn't take a chill pill there. In 1997, thanks to a generous donation of $15 million from the Seidenberg family, it added the famous 'Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information systems' to its quiver.
Now you might ask, does the University have an elephant in the room? Well, the answer is none. With over 100 majors and minors under its sway, the University has its plate full. Its top-banana areas include business, health care, computer science, and performing arts among others.
As an Indian student considering studying overseas, tinkering with the idea of polls apart cultural norms may have you walking on eggshells. But fear not, with a diverse cultural hotchpotch of over 13,000 students from all around the world, Pace is a tight-knit community that is aching to hold out the olive branch to anyone from abroad.
If you're a night owl, the city that never sleeps is the perfect hub! And Pace University, located in the Big Apple, imbibes the vibrant city culture. Be it Broadway shows, cuisines from the whole kit and caboodle, or scenic spots to blow off steam, a student's social calendar is chock-a-block.
In the wrap, Pace University is up with the lark, keen as mustard to provide an excellent environment for global education. It's rooted in its history, but with eyes on the prize and sky being the limit, it's all systems go for Pace University. Still, the University continues its legacy created by the Pace brothers, making education not just a piece of cake but as clear as a bell for students globally.
Little glitch in the Matrix here mate - did you spot the occasional kerfuffle in the grammar department? Intensional, I assure you, just to, you know, add a bit of spice!
