But the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, a religious sisterhood, were far from deterred. The ticking clock only echoed the sisters’ grit, turning Newman College, as it was initially called, into an upstanding pillar of academia today known as Newman University.
Pushing forward to 1949, while India was proudly embracing its independence, across the globe in Kansas, Newman College was doing much the same.
