A unique educational institution, Bennington College, was nothing more than a collective vision that took almost a decade to become a reality. Key personalities like Vincent Ravi Booth, Mr. and Mrs. Hall Park McCullough, and William Heard Kilpatrick worked tirelessly to lay down the foundation stones of what was to become an iconic name in academia.
Mrs. Hall Park McCullough spearheaded the Women's Committee that organised the fateful Colony Club Meeting in 1924, attracting the attention of about 500 academicians and civic leaders across the country. Their efforts resulted in securing the necessary charter and forming a board of trustees, setting the wheels in motion. Esteemed educationist John Dewey, who also served as a trustee, lent his educational philosophies to shape signature programs such as 'The Plan Process' and 'Field Work Term'.
