Initially opening its gates as a Catholic, liberal arts college exclusively for women, it was called Mount Saint Joseph College, a name derived from its founders - the Sisters of St. Joseph.
Fast forward to the year 1938, a significant event unfolds; our beloved Mount Saint Joseph College becomes Chestnut Hill College. However, the high school portion of the institution felt a shift. In the lively 1960s, it met an exciting transition as it relocated to a location a mere mile away - Flourtown, preserving its original moniker, Mount Saint Joseph.
