It all began in 2001, quite unsuspectingly, yes, just like how your favourite Bollywood flick might. A passionate group of music aficionados led by Kevin Nixon, Sarah Clayman and Bruce Dickinson, had a dreamy vision. They craved to create a music institute in the heart of London which was avant-garde, which could crank out real maestros of music. The sorts who'd lend a refreshing "desi" twist to Rock and create the newest fusion fad in India or blow the sax "just right" in jazz clubs. I tell you, this wasn't your regular group of dreamers.
Two years flew by in preparation. Now hold on to your seats because, in 2003, came the humdinger. The group succeeded to launch Tech Music School. It quickly garnered a reputation for being the workshop of talent where raw passion meets the right technique.
Fast forward three more years to 2006, and the success story smacked another high note. The group launched another campus right in Dublin, peeps! 'Twas christened Tech Music School Dublin.
Don't scroll away yet, 'cause here's where the story gets piping hot. 2010 saw the birth of the power-packed "BIMM Group" to expand the mission of the school's founders. It included Tech Music Schools in both London and Dublin and even more guru-ghar or 'schools', in Brighton and Bristol. Educating the world about music was their raison d'etre or 'reason to be'.
Now let's talk about the nitty-gritties. These revolutionary institutes were one-of-a-kind, making waves and gaining recognition left, right and centre. They offered specialist professional diplomas and degrees in Music and RELATED areas. Desi parents, sit up and take note! These weren't just, hold your breath, part-time music classes; we're talking about full-blown degrees in music here!
Flying colours and little hiccups were a part of the journey. There was, at one point, a small rocks-in-the-road situation, when the Brighton and Bristol schools had a little identity crisis. But no worries fellas, they smoothly changed their name to "British and Irish Modern Music Institute." Sounds snazzy, right!?
No story is complete, certainly not this roller-coaster of a tale, without celebrating major milestones. 2012 was THE year, was indeed a huge milestone- the year the group waved their flag on solid ground. Manchester, the mecca of music in the UK, welcomed a brand-new BIMM Institute. And, oh boy, what a tremendous welcome it was!
In the years that followed, the group continued its meteoric journey of music and educational mastery. BIMM landed in Berlin in 2015 and Birmingham in 2017, spreading its footprints far and wide. It was quite like the beats of the Dhol that touched the hearts of people miles away.
