Fast forward to 1870, a mere two years later, this promising establishment embraced its current identity, Wells College. However, not before enduring a massive setback on August 9, 1888, when a devastating fire engulfed the main building of the college. But as they say, resilience is the key to progress. By 1890, a majestic new Main Building, designed by celebrated architect William Henry Miller, stood in place of the one lost.
In 1906, another asset was added to the college. The grand 1852 mansion, Glen Park, originally owned by Henry Wells himself, was generously gifted to the college by the Alumnae Association.
